General Overview

This exhibit is meant to teach children aged 3-10 about marine ecosystems. Specifically, it teaches them about a device called the Underwater Zooplankton Enhancing Light Array, or UZELA for short. This device shines light onto specific spots in the ocean during the night. This action helps grow zooplankton populations, and those populations help maintain the overall health of coral reefs and other marine ecosystems. The interactive element of our exhibit is inspired by the board game Operation, and we used that interactive medium as a way of directly teaching the user about the device and marine ecosystems.

Coding The Exhibit

Coding this exhibit was not easy. After all, coding in two

different languages that took on different tasks, all while having

to make them communicate with each other, was a difficult task

to manage for a group of first timers. We even had to pull an all-

nighter a few times just before the exhibition, but even though

we encountered challenge after challenge, we pulled through as

a group and created an amazing final product that would go on

to be praised by its users.
